Information technologies and systems

WiFi in the Eduroam network is available to students in all areas of the university. All information and installation procedures are available here: https://www.ukf.sk/helpdesk/wifi

Principles for the use of computer network:   https://www.ukf.sk/helpdesk/zasady-pouzivania-pocitacovej-siete

In addition, based on an agreement between the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic and Microsoft, each of our students and employees has Microsoft Office 365 Education at their disposal:  https://www.ukf.sk/helpdesk/office-365-education

Information systems to support communication: students and teachers use university e-mail for communication https://www.ukf.sk/helpdesk/elektronicka-posta

UKF has the following systems for managing, storing, and evaluating information, including its added value, which it uses in accordance with its strategic and operational objectives:

1. Academic information system (AIS2) - currently used to record comprehensive information about the study programme (study plans, information sheets, (VUPCH) the academic profile of a teacher, student records and comprehensive information about their admission procedure, and studies, final theses, state exam. It creates AIS timetables and evaluates programmes, teachers, studies by students, and provides data to the Central Register of Students and the Central Register of Final Theses, the University Portal (Portál VŠ). The information gathered in AIS also serves as a basic source for accreditation and study offer creation.

2. Document Management (DOC) - (document management system) serves as an authorised zone for university staff and students and together with the intranet part of the website provides access to current documents (internal regulations of the university and faculty, forms, rector's Directives, deans) (in the field of scholarships), software (licensed and freely available), working materials of management units, etc.

3. Education Portal (EDU) - https://edu.ukf.sk/

4. Library Information System (KIS) - https://kis.ukf.sk/opacXE

5. Registry (REG) - https://uis.ukf.sk/

6. Catering system - https://www.stravovanie.ukf.sk/

7. Ordering system (OSYS) -https://osys.ukf.sk: 4443 /osys/users/login /?U =% 2Fosys% 2F

8. Accommodation system (UIS) - https://uis.ukf.sk/

9. Attendance system (Watt) - https://watt.ukf.sk/

10. Employee Portal (ESS) - https://portal.ukf.sk/kvalita/index.php?r=site/login

11. Webmail for staff and students - https://posta.ukf.sk/webmail/

12. University website - https://www.ukf.sk/

All information systems communicate with the user through a secure channel. In order to simplify access and minimise the possibility of access data theft, central authentication has been deployed, which stores access data of employees and students via LDAP and enables their verification upon request from all information systems.

The system is connected to the financial and personnel system (SOFIA) so that the employee is automatically blocked access to the systems and facilities of the university upon the termination of employment and, conversely, access is created upon acceptance.

An important step presenting the university level is to participate in the Eduroam project, the basic idea of which is to enable students and academic staff to connect to a computer network in another academic institution without having to register or obtain access data. Connecting to the network requires only the username and password that the user uses in the home institution. We anticipate use by both university visitors and our students and staff. The presentation of the university on the outside is provided by its website.

CPU creates and continues to innovate its own ICT infrastructure and information systems (IS), which are part of information support processes with a focus on research, education, management. The implementation and operation of ICT and IS are ensured by the university-wide Centre for Information and Communication Technology (CIKT), which ensures compliance with the long-term intention and strategic goals of the university. At the level of individual areas of technology application, technologies are used as follows: project and task management (IS Projects, SAP system, MIS Performance Indicators); support for learning and improvement activities is provided at the level of knowledge management (KIS – Library Information System, CPU University Library databases, educational materials are provided by part of the workplaces through e-learning courses); support for learning and improvement activities (existence of computer classrooms - each faculty has several such classrooms); Internet access (all facilities are almost completely covered by wireless connection and all fixed computers are connected to the Internet).

Interaction with students is ensured through AIS, e-mail communication, university web presentations, faculties and faculty workplaces. In selected periods, promotion through print media, workshops and open days is used. Sharing and providing information at the level of educational content (e-learning, library services, education management) is provided through electronic services 24 hours a day. All of the university's information systems are connected to the Unified User Management (LDAP) system, allowing access to all systems through the same credentials.

An example of minimising the environmental burden is the electronic monitoring and evaluation of attendance, incapacity for work, business trips, and overtime in the form of contactless smart cards or employee software (Watt Attendance System). Another example of minimising the environmental burden is the ordering of goods (oSys information system), designed for internal ordering of goods and services within CPU through mass collection of information from individual workplaces with the possibility of approving individual requirements in accordance with the hierarchical structure of CPU, as well as informing about remuneration work.

Periodic assessment of teaching and teachers by students is accessible through AIS.

Opinions and evaluation opinions of students on various aspects of the study are also regularly obtained at the department level. This is done through the tutor of the study programme, who is in regular personal and written contact with students of all 3 levels of university study (Bc., Mgr. PhD.) while interpreting feedback from students at regular working meetings of the department.

Another form is obtaining feedback in the form of anonymous questionnaires (using platforms Google Forms and SurveyMonkey), which allow students to respond to evaluation, study conditions, quality of study plans, level and effectiveness of connecting study and content of lectures with practice, quality of teaching, educational methods, quality and frequency of activities organised by the department outside the lecture framework, relationships and quality of teachers' communication with students, motivation and satisfaction with studying at the department, availability of study materials, and also the extent of student workload.

The Department of Ethnology and Folklore Studies care about fair and open relations with their students, which they consider to be one of the most important added values of the functioning of workplaces. Supporting students in their professional and teaching extracurricular activities, personal contact of trainers with individual students, whether during consultation hours, by phone, via online platforms or e-mail, is perceived as key, while consultation and discussion meetings on research topics and opportunities utilising their knowledge and skills outside the department is often a means of enabling students to communicate their views on a variety of issues related to teaching and the general functioning of workplaces in a collegial and supportive environment.

The department has established mechanisms for obtaining feedback in connection with selected subjects of the study plan: students prepare A report from professional practice (I. and II.). After the accomplishment of field research I, the department holds a discussion meeting with students and evaluation of field research transcripts, where students share with the experience towards the 1st year students and also the teachers. Based on the feedback, the research implementation plan for the next academic year is re-evaluated.

Every year in the pre-Christmas period, the department also organises the so-called Pre-Christmas Matinee, which is a department-wide meeting to present the first chapters of final theses: final year students (Bachelor theses, Master theses). This is where space is created for the topics of field research conditions, availability of study materials, etc.

c) - Results of graduate feedback and related measures to improve the study programme quality.

The emphasis on building the social capital of students in the areas of focus of their future, potential professions, and the quality of relations between individual members and students of the department are facts that are also positively evaluated by our successful graduates. This is done through personal contact with them within the various non-academic expert activities of teachers (evaluation activities during the SVOUČ, workshops, festival programmes preparing, etc.), as well as through a series of video spots prepared by graduates in connection with the annual Open Day; at departmental events (Ethnological Days, Jarné pozdravy) where they regularly take part – some of them as visiting lecturers.

Under the name Ethnological Party, in 2020 the department initiated a series of lectures by invited guests, including our graduates. It is a way to introduce students to specific topics related to applied ethnology, as well as aspects of professions in which they can apply after graduation (Bc., Mgr., also PhD.). Especially in the discussion part of the event, there is room for other supplementary student questions stimulating the discourse on the challenges and benefits of studying at our workplace and the situation in the professional field in question.
